Something is eating all the sunflower seed

The Passionate Gardeners assistant (AKA Mike or my husband) has finally figured out one of the many reasons I have a strong dislike for the resident chipmunks. He too, has finally developed this strong dislike. It's taken him many years. Yes, the chippy is cute. But the damage he can do. One of the many in the yard, has dug a hole, I think to China, next to the foundation of the house. I'm worried that it will fill with rain water and somehow find that crack in the wall and flood the basement. The straw that finally broke the camels back you ask? The chipmunks have decided that the BIG bird feeder is filled for them. They climb up the pole and stuff their cheeks as full as they can, down the pole they go, to plant the seeds in the flower beds. We have alot of sunflowers coming up. The assistant has FINALLY noticed this and is tired of filling the feeder. The chipmunks have gone through a 50 pound bag of seed in 1 week. So, up goes the baffle. Time will tell. I hope this works and keeps them off the feeder. I think they have other thoughts in mind. I caught them chewing on the container that holds the seed. I wouldn't be surprised if they banded together with the gray squirrels and figured out a way.....

Tomatoes

OK, so maybe I started them a little early. I just couldn't wait any longer. I looked at the pictures on the seed packages. I tried not to open them. And then...I did. Trouble. Once they're open, there's no turning back. The seed package said plant 6-8 weeks before your last frost. So if that was good, 10 weeks had to be better, right? I should have known I was in for trouble when it only took them 3 days to germinate. What was I thinking? They're growing like weeds. Stretching out their little leaves, reaching for the sun, yearning to get into the ground and really show me what they've really got! Next year, someone remind me....don't open the seed package until the end of March.
